Proceed through these lessons (each one has associated assignments) at your own pace. At the end of the course, you'll have an environment which you'll be able to use to continue your learning and exploration of Vim.

Downloads - getting what you'll need for this course

We'll be doing a lot of downloading in this lesson. We'll download both some tools and the Vim source code.

Please ensure you have lots of free space on your hard drive. I don't have specific numbers for how much space it will all take; for example, if you don't have certain dependencies, they'll be downloaded and installed too, so it's impossible to say.

An available gigabyte is very probably (significantly, even!) more than enough space for all of this.

If you have only a few megabytes of space available, you'll probably have problems getting this all to fit.
