Welcome!Hi everyone. Welcome to the class and the forum! I'd love to get a bit of a community going here, so if anyone has any thoughts (that are in any way relevant), please go right ahead and post. For now, I wanted to mention a couple of things. First, I have made a bit of a change to the way the course is structured after looking more closely at MIT's OCW site. Assignments are now going to be posted under the lesson on which they're due. This is because the original course had 13 weeks of lessons but only 9 assignments, and some assignments therefore rely on more than one week's worth of readings and lectures. Posting the assignments on the lesson they're due on seemed like the most reasonable way to deal with this. I've also added a "Assignment Notes" section to the lessons discussing this, and would like to update it in time with "gotchas" that people find while going through the assignments -- so definitely post here if you think of anything. Second, I wanted to mention that you should feel free to post a solution which is just a link to a PDF or image file elsewhere -- especially if you typeset your solutions in LaTex or scan/photograph a handwritten solution. This is probably what I will be doing for my own solutions. Finally, even though the course is officially listed as May 1, 2010 to May 31, 2010, and the lessons are presented in weekly chunks, there's no reason you need to stick to that schedule. Feel free to get started right away, and feel free to move more or less quickly than I have it set up. Cheers, Corey Not quite sure how this works, but I'll give it a go. Question though why are we only covering sections 1-8 rather than 1-25. Are we going to do the full course or only part of it? We're going to do the whole course -- I've just only added the first 4 so far. I'll probably have the rest posted by the end of the weekend. EDIT: I just posted a "Current Status" section at the top of the Description page that should hopefully make that clearer. Thanks very much for your comment! Is this ongoing? I'm taking this class at UCSC over the summer; we're starting June 21. Not too active atm, but it is ongoing.
