I am a data analyst from NYC who is interested in learning more about system administration and linux in general. I am hoping that shell scripting might be an entré into this interesting world!

I recently decided to spin my own Linux distribution and set out on the web to find out the best method of accomplishing this. I found many different sites that all provided a treasure trove of information mostly in book format with accompanying scripts or makefiles. Interestingly enough I actually found a project called RockLinux and it's fork T2 SDE, both of which created a build system written in bash that completely spins a custom Linux distro from source. I liked what I saw but knew I would need to modify these environments as they fall short of doing some of the things I want. So I am here to brush up on my Bash skills so I can dive into these two wonderful frameworks.
